TrestleWood Timbers are an AWESOME reclaimed
timber option. You get the stability of reclaimed wood. There are
plenty of textures to choose from. The coloring is unequalled in
reclaimed timbers and the appearance can range from rustic to more
formal.
- Specie: Douglas Fir
- Source: The Lucin Cut-off Rail Road Trestle which crossed
the Great Salt Lake in Utah.
- Moisture: As-is; kiln-dried for 12 days
- HC/FOHC: Most sizes are Heart Center; some smaller sizes
can be FOHC.
- Holes: Extremely rare 3/4 bolt holes.
- Surface: Options include:
- Circle-Sawn: Heavy circle-sawn texture on all four sides
which creates a size variance of +/- 1/4
- Band-Sawn: Band-sawn texture on all four sides with tighter
tolerances and less texture than circle-sawn. Targeted at 1/2
under standard size.
- Planed: Surface-planed on all four sides to create a
smooth look. Targeted at 3/4 under standard size. Available
with square or beveled edges.
- Skip-Sawn: Remnants of light circle-sawn texture with
worn edges and rounded corners.
- Sizes: Cross-Section: 6x6 to 12x12 in 2 increments
- Lengths: 8, 10, 12, 16, 20,
24, 26, 28, 30 32
Limited quantities are available in larger sizes and longer lengths.
- Wane: Wane on standard size Trestlewood timbers will
not exceed that allowed by the WWPA #2 grade.
- Weight: Typically, 4 to 5 pounds per board foot
- Grading: WWPA grading available upon request
- Stability: Trestlewood timbers have proven to be very
stable. Trestlewood timbers will develop checks as they dry. Trestlewood
does not have the disposition to twist or warp like green wood.
- Odor: Trestlewood timbers and poles have a Great Salt
Lake odor to them until the surface of the wood dries.
The unique distinctiveness of a reclaimed wood
product is generally what makes it so desirable. Although we may provide
a sample, photograph or description of a particular type of wood product
as an example to demonstrate the general characteristics of that type
of product, such sample, photograph or description may not necessarily
be representative of the product actually delivered due to the great
variability in color, grain, texture, sign of previous use, etc. |
