Weathered Timbers offer another very rustic timber option. The timbers will have aged either out in the elements for heavy texture and patina or inside a structure for a light texture and usually heavy patina. The color will range from gray to brown and there will be plenty of evidence to show the woods previous use.

  • Specie: Most often Douglas Fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii)
  • Source: Mostly industrial buildings.
  • Moisture: As-is
  • HC/FOHC: Most sizes are Heart Center; some smaller sizes can be FOHC.
  • Holes: Will vary substantially from one source to another
  • Surface: Interior aged or weathered
  • Sizes: Vary depending upon current inventory.
  • Weight: Typically, 3 pounds per board foot
  • Stability: Reclaimed timbers shrink, warp and twist in their previous use. There should be very little, if any, movement in weathered timbers
The unique distinctiveness of a reclaimed wood product is generally what makes it so desirable. Although we may provide a sample, photograph or description of a particular type of wood product as an example to demonstrate the general characteristics of that type of product, such sample, photograph or description may not necessarily be representative of the product actually delivered due to the great variability in color, grain, texture, sign of previous use, etc.
